10 awesome jamb Mathematics tips-naijastudentsblog

All students applying for engineering courses, courses in accounting and economics, and courses in the physical science faculty must as a matter of necessity enrol mathematics as one of the four subject combinations. A total of 50 questions are normally asked in mathematics   each bearing a whooping 2 marks.
Due to the nature of the subject (it being a calculation subject) and the circumstances around the jamb examination(scientific calculators are not allowed),it becomes the most time consuming subject in the jamb examination.Candidates therefore have to be well equipped with relevant informations to help them manage their time properly combining mathematics with the three other subjects. The below tips(both for before and during the examination) will aid candidates in writing mathematics successfully.

1.Candidates  are advised to study at least two textbooks in mathematics, don’t  rely solely on the textbooks  you  used for  your  O’level  exams. Text book A might solve a maths problem in a more easier way than the way Textbook B solved that same  problem. The questions asked from Further Mathematics are from the basics of differentiation and integration.(use integrated mathematics by Afolabi)
2.Learn  the shortcut in solving all mathematics problem. Jamb is not an essay exam where you have to start explaining, the quickest way is the best way.
3.Candidates should also note that apart from the test of your knowledge, test of speed and accuracy is also one of the test being carried out on candidates if you fail one of the two tests, you might fail the exam.Be both fast and accurate.
4. Never  you study with a scientific calculator.
5. Make sure to learn all the calculations you don’t know  before entering the exam hall, never you go with the notion that “it will not come out”.
6. The importance of past questions can never be overemphasized.
7. Put your self in the exam condition in your home by answering all the questions on mathematics in a particular year in a fixed time, say 1 hour.
8. In the exam hall, dont waste your time on any question. Any question that decides to be difficult or time consuming should be SKIPPED to be visited later.
9. Make sure to go to the exam hall with a wrist watch to keep track of the time allowed for the exam.
10. Practice is the key, solve as many past question as possible before the exam.
