Is there any basis for any comparison between O'level
exams(WAEC,JAMB,NABTEB,GCE) and the matriculation exam(i.e JAMB)? The
fact that they both are exams written by undergraduates is already a
basis for their comparison. The criteria for this comparison can be
drawn on this two questions;"which one is the most important?" and
"which one is the easiest?"
On the basis of which is the most important,it won't be fallacious to say that the O'level exams are the most important. An individual with no O'level certificate goes no where as far as tertiary education is concerned. An individual that fails his/her matriculation exam but has his/her O'level certificate can opt to enrol in a private University where Jamb results is not so needed. But if that individual fails the O'level exams and secure an admission into a state or federal university,he goes no where;no O'level,no movement,no O'level cerificate you remain where you are.
Now which one of the two exams is the easiest? With no doubt, O'level exams are the most difficult. note or recall that the O'level exams consist of practical,objective and essay sections with the marks in most cases concentrated on the essay and practical sections. compare this with jamb which is all objective,you will conclude that jamb is the easiest. An individual can simply guess his way through in jamb and luckily get the right answers,but in essay questions,you don't know the answer,you don't know it no guessing.
On an equal scale however both exams should be both important and easy for any individual who aims at going further in his/her academic pursuit.
